Professor Robert Dickson - a talented researcher, loving
husband, wonderful father and himself a student of many diverse fields:
biology, oncology, astronomy, archeology, history, and more. Bob left
us in June 2006 to begin his brief loitering in the stars - waiting for
his family and friends to join him. Undoubtedly, when we reunite, he
will share new stories, insights and loving closeness with his
infectious optimism and humor. This page is devoted to the incredible
human being, Bob
Dickson, and is designed for those who love and admire him.
Anyone can be added to the lists of those missing Bob or
working with him, simply email the webmaster your preferred wording,
placement, or comments. This site is a slow but steady work in progress
with material being added over time, so check back for updates. We need
help from friends: mainly essays about the unique friendship,
accomplishments and character of Bob. If you have information, please
contact us with your thoughts and suggestions on the site. Just saying
hello is good too. Special thanks to Bob's colleagues, especially
Jamila Ennaboulssi, for research assistance and guidance. If you love
the site, please tell us. If you don't, just lie convincingly. Please
help by e-mailing your unique contribution and by
staying in touch with Bob's family and www.ProfessorBob.org in the
coming years. The site is designed for best viewing with Firefox, which
is a free, advanced function browser. To contact Ed Ramsay, please clickhere.

Short Comments
Bob was a
brilliant scientist and one of the most oft-cited researchers in his
field, contributing so much to breast cancer research and treatment in
the last two decades. But he was more than that. He always focused on
how to best contribute to Lombardi's mission to fight cancer. We saw
that in everything he did -- as a mentor, as a consensus builder, as
wise counsel to all of us -- he embodied the spirit of this
institution. He was an amazing man, and he will be missed.

Bob was on the Editorial Board of
Breast Cancer Online, of which I am Editorial Assistant. Although I
never met him in person, through all our email correspondence, I found
him to be extremely nice. He always had time to answer any queries I
had despite his busy schedule. Even though we only knew each other
through email, he always added that extra bit of concern for me as a
person throughout my pregnancy that let one know he was a caring
person. I will miss working with him. My condolences to his family.

Bob Dickson is not the standard model
of success, and yet he clearly was so successful. He was one of the 100
top cited breast cancer researchers, and yet he was humble. His mission
was breast cancer, not himself.

Colleague and co-director of Lombardi's Breast Cancer Program
We all know about Bob
Dickson’s outstanding contributions to breast cancer
research. These are in textbooks and will have a lasting
impact on the field. What his friends remember is his
friendship, his good humor, his good character, and his positive
attitude to life.

Dear Author,
We thought you might be interested to know that your paper, published
in Tissue & Cell was one of the 10 most downloaded articles
from the journal on ScienceDirect between January and March 2006. This
demonstrates a considerable interest in your article amongst the health
science community. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you
for publishing in Tissue & Cell, and we hope that you will
consider publishing in the journal again. http://top25.sciencedirect.com/index.php?subject_area_id=17&journal_id=00408166
